Around the holidays, apples are a big ingredient used in almost every way. Warm apple cider, apple pies etc. My apple tart is an easy 4-ingredient delight to make any time of the year, but brings a nice warmth to your kitchen and home during the holiday season. Recipe is below.
Ingredients:
1 store bought puff pastry - thawed at room temp for 40 mins.
3 apples, cored and sliced
1 cup brown sugar
Juice of ½ a lemon
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Core and slice the apples thinly into half moon sizes.
3. In a large bowl, add the apples, the brown sugar and juice of the lemon. Toss very well to coat the apples with the juice and sugar.
4. Take your puff pastry and cut it in half. No need to roll it out. Put the pastry halves onto a greased baking tray. Then in the center of the pastry, evenly lay the apple slices overlaying each one.
5. Put the prepared baking tray into the oven for 25 mins total time. For the first 20 mins you want to bake the pastry at 400* F. For the last 5 mins, increase the oven temperature to 425* F. Remove the tray from the oven and let the tarts cool for a bit.
6. Sprinkle some confectioners sugar on top. Serve with whipped cream or your favorite vanilla ice cream!
